Lysosome-targeting luminescent lanthanide complexes: from molecular design to bioimaging

D. B. Ambiliraj et al.

Summary: Lysosomes are crucial acidic organelles in human cells, and understanding lysosome-specific imaging can help in designing targeted therapeutic reagents for various diseases. Luminescent lanthanide molecular materials are important probes with unique photophysical features, and have been used for imaging hypochlorous acid and nitric oxide at the sub-cellular level. Future challenges in developing lysosome-targeting luminescent lanthanide complexes are outlined to inspire the design of new organelle-targeting metal complexes.
