Phenanthroimidazole substituted imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives for deep-blue electroluminescence with CIEy ∼ 0.08

Anupriya et al.

Summary: Three new dipolar materials based on the phenanthroimidazole-imidazopyridine conjugated system were synthesized and characterized in this study, with changes in the position and number of phenanthmimidazole substituents. These derivatives exhibited superb thermal stability and high photoluminescence quantum yield. The red-shifted emission band was observed when the phenanthmimidazole chromophore was linked at the para-position of C2 phenyl ring in dyes.

Tuning photophysical and electroluminescent properties of phenanthroimidazole decorated carbazoles with donor and acceptor units: Beneficial role of cyano substitution

Anuj Sharma et al.

Summary: Four new multi-functionalized carbazole derivatives with different chromophores exhibit tunable emission spectra, with cyano-substituted dyes demonstrating solvatochromism and enhanced properties in optical and thermal characteristics. The dyes also show good thermal stability and fluorescence modulation towards acid. Additionally, they are successfully applied as dopant emitters in organic light-emitting diodes to achieve blue electroluminescence.

Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine based deep-blue emitter: effect of donor on the optoelectronic properties

Anupriya et al.

Summary: Isomeric materials were designed, synthesized, and studied as blue-emitting materials, with triphenylamine and carbazole as donors and 2-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine as the core unit. C2 substituted dyes exhibit red-shifted absorption and emission compared to their positional analogues, while all compounds displayed excellent thermal stability. The dye possessing triphenylamine on both C2 and C6 positions of imidazopyridine showed the best electroluminescence performance in the series.

Phenanthroimidazole-based bipolar carbazoles featuring cyano substituents to realize efficient deep-blue electroluminescence with an external quantum efficiency of nearly 6%

Anuj Sharma et al.

Summary: Developing deep-blue bipolar materials with high quantum yields is crucial for organic light-emitting diodes. The excited-state characteristics of dyes play a pivotal role in controlling photoluminescence and electroluminescence outcomes. By designing a series of carbazole-phenanthroimidazole dyads, it was found that cyano-featured dyes exhibit a bathochromic shift in emission spectra, attributed to a charge-transfer component in the excited state, which enhances exciton utilization efficiency and offers better EL performances.

Through Positional Isomerism: Impact of Molecular Composition on Enhanced Triplet Harvest for Solution-Processed OLED Efficiency Improvement

Diksha Thakur et al.

Summary: A strategy for developing an in-depth understanding of the synergy between triplet energy (E-T) and structural composition of molecular hosts for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) was presented, involving virtual screening and experimental validation. Structural changes in molecular hosts were found to enhance device performance, with E-T values significantly impacting efficacy. The study observed a remarkable increase in power efficacy through strategic molecular design.
