Reference-Free DIBR-Synthesized Video Quality Metric in Spatial and Temporal Domains

Guangcheng Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel reference-free video quality assessment method for synthesized videos using Depth Image-based Rendering (DIBR) techniques. The method operates in both spatial and temporal domains, evaluating the visual quality of the synthesized videos based on high-frequency energy estimation and motion difference measurement between consecutive frames. The experiments show that the proposed method performs well in perceiving the visual quality of DIBR-synthesized videos.

Blind image quality assessment in the contourlet domain

Chaofeng Li et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a new NR-IQA/BIQA model that operates in the contourlet domain, creating new 'quality-aware' features based on the effects of different distortions on image characteristics. Experimental results demonstrate the method's high linearity with human subjective perception, outperforming state-of-the-art NR-IQA models.

No-reference stereoscopic image quality assessment using quaternion wavelet transform and heterogeneous ensemble learning

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a no-reference stereoscopic image quality assessment model that extracts quality information from diverse image features using heterogeneous ensemble learning. It discovers various "quality-aware" features in the quaternion wavelet domain and predicts quality scores using a combination of support vector regression, extreme learning machine, and random forest models. Experimental results show the accuracy and robustness of this model on four public databases.

Perceptual Quality Assessment for Asymmetrically Distorted Stereoscopic Video by Temporal Binocular Rivalry

Yuming Fang et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a two-stage weighting based perceptual quality assessment framework for asymmetrically distorted stereoscopic video sequences, which combines the quality scores of spatial and temporal distortion to estimate perceived distortion of single-view video sequences, and designs a novel temporal binocular rivalry inspired weighting method to predict the final visual quality.

Predicting the Quality of View Synthesis With Color-Depth Image Fusion

Leida Li et al.

Summary: This research introduces a no-reference image quality prediction model for view synthesis, which predicts the quality of view synthesis by fusing color and depth images without actually performing the DIBR process. Experimental results show that this method can effectively predict the quality of view synthesis, even surpassing the current state-of-the-art post-DIBR view synthesis quality metrics.

UGC-VQA: Benchmarking Blind Video Quality Assessment for User Generated Content

Zhengzhong Tu et al.

Summary: In recent years, the popularity of user-generated content (UGC) videos on the Internet has increased, leading to a need for accurate video quality assessment (VQA) models. This study contributes to advancing the UGC-VQA problem by evaluating leading blind VQA features and models, providing new insights on subjective video quality studies and objective VQA model design.

Semantic Information Oriented No-Reference Video Quality Assessment

Wei Wu et al.

Summary: In this letter, a new video quality assessment model called SIONR is proposed, which effectively represents quality degradation by considering semantic information variations. The model achieves competitive performance compared to state-of-the-art methods in two databases and demonstrates good generalization capability.
