In this study, a transmissible syntheticsymbiosis was successfully established, providing exciting new opportunities to explore the initial dynamics of endosymbiotic interactions.
Endosymbioses are widespread among insects and have far-reaching implications for their hosts' ecology and evolution. However, the molecular underpinnings of symbiosis remain largely obscure. In a new study, Su et al. successfully established a transmissible syntheticsymbiosis, opening upexcitingnewopportunities to explore the initial dynamics of endosymbiotic interactions.
