A Stable 3d-4f Heterometallic Cluster with Magneto-Optical Activity

Yan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a stable 3d-4f heterometallic cluster was synthesized by solvothermal method and its structure was characterized. The compound exhibited an interesting structure with interpenetrating tetrahedron based on 4f ions and square pyramid based on 3d ions. A unique intermolecular interaction in Dy4Ni5 was found, leading to its high stability in both solid and dissolved states. Additionally, the magnetic behavior of solid Dy4Ni5 and the magneto-optical activity of Dy4Ni5 solution were investigated.

Emerging Trends on Designing High-Performance Dysprosium(III) Single-Molecule Magnets

Tesfay G. Ashebr et al.

Summary: This Review discusses the recent trends in key synthetic strategies for achieving exotic magnetic properties and provides representative seminal reports. Special emphasis is given to monomeric high-performance Dy(III)-SMMs realized through crystal field, predominant bond, and organometallic approaches, as well as stimulating reports on endometallofullerenes and radical-bridged systems with strong magnetic coupling. The role of spin-vibration coupling in magnetic relaxation is also highlighted. More demanding theoretical studies are anticipated to predict promising molecules with magnetization blocking at practical temperatures.

Guest-Induced Switching of a Molecule-Based Magnet in a 3d-4f Heterometallic Cluster-Based Chain Structure

Zhaobo Hu et al.

Summary: This study presents a rare infinite chain structure formed from Cu3Tb2 clusters through the linkage of nitrate ions, exhibiting high energy barrier as a molecule-based magnet. The removal of guest ethanol molecules leads to the disappearance of slow magnetic relaxation behavior, and the capture and removal of these molecules mediate a reversible ON/OFF switching of the heterometallic molecule-based magnet.

Strong Coupling and Slow Relaxation of the Magnetization for an Air-Stable [Co4] Square with Both Tetrazine Radicals and Azido Bridges

Zhilin Guo et al.

Summary: Introducing both tetrazine radical and azido bridges afforded two air-stable square complexes where magnetic studies revealed strong antiferromagnetic metal-radical interaction with a coupling constant of -64.7 cm(-1) in the 2J formalism in 2. Remarkably, complex 2 exhibits slow relaxation of magnetization with an effective barrier for spin reverse of 96 K at zero applied field.
