Molecular Cytogenetic Characterization of Novel 1RS.1BL Translocation and Complex Chromosome Translocation Lines with Stripe Rust Resistance

Zhi Li et al.

Summary: In this study, two stable wheat-rye primary 1RS.1BL translocation lines were selected and identified. The results showed that these lines had high resistance to a prevalent wheat disease and exhibited better agronomic traits compared to the wheat parent. This study highlights the potential of these translocation lines as valuable genetic resources for wheat breeding programs.

Effect of wheat quality traits and glutenin composition on tortilla quality from the USDA Southern Regional Performance Nursery

Pingping Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that there is a wide variation in wheat and tortilla quality traits among wheat lines. Increased protein content and gluten strength significantly decreased tortilla diameter, while improving tortilla shelf life in terms of 2-D extensibility parameters.
