Corrosion inhibition of mild steel by aminobenzoic acid isomers in hydrochloric acid solution: Efficiency and adsorption mechanisms

Abdallah Imjjad et al.

Summary: The study found that different isomers of aminobenzoic acid can spontaneously adsorb on the Fe(110) surface, with weak interactions dominating the adsorption. An inhibition efficiency isomeric effect, as observed experimentally, was also identified. Therefore, computational modeling and chemical reactivity indices should be widely used for in-depth studies of corrosion inhibition of metals by organic compounds.

Computational and experimental studies of the inhibitory effect of imidazole derivatives for the corrosion of copper in an acid medium

Abdallah El Asri et al.

Summary: The inhibitory efficiency of imidazole derivatives on metallic corrosion was investigated using weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that these molecules act as mixed-type inhibitors, significantly reducing the corrosion rate. Furthermore, the adsorption behavior of the compounds followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm, with a good agreement observed between experimental results and theoretical predictions.

Electrochemical and physicochemical studies for adsorption of Bovine serum albumin for corrosion mitigation of zinc

Mikitha Pais et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the protective effect of a biopolymer Bovine serum albumin (BSA) on sulfamic acid-induced corrosion of zinc. The efficacy of BSA was confirmed through experimental measurements and characterization analysis, showing that BSA can effectively inhibit the corrosion of zinc, with the inhibition efficiency influenced by parameters such as temperature, BSA concentration, and acid concentration.

Passiflora edulia Sims leaves Extract as renewable and degradable inhibitor for copper in sulfuric acid solution

Bochuan Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, Passiflora edulia Sims leaves extract (PESLE) was obtained using a simple and environmentally friendly water extraction method. The research demonstrated that PESLE can effectively inhibit copper corrosion in sulfuric acid medium. Experimental and theoretical calculations showed that PESLE at a concentration of 800 mg/L achieved a corrosion inhibition efficiency of approximately 96%. The anti-corrosion capacity of PESLE remained at around 95% even at a temperature of 318 K. Morphology tests indicated that PESLE was adsorbed onto the copper interface, effectively protecting the copper sample and resulting in a relatively flat surface. XPS test results confirmed the chemical adsorption of PESLE onto the copper interface through the detection of Cu-N bonds. Quantum chemistry calculations and molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated the high anti-corrosion property of the three components of PESLE.

Synthesis and anticorrosive properties of epoxy polymer for CS in [1 M] HCl solution: Electrochemical, AFM, DFT and MD simulations

Rachid Hsissou et al.

Summary: A novel EPT epoxy polymer was developed and investigated for its anticorrosive performance on carbon steel in [1 M] HCl medium. Experimental results showed high inhibitory efficiencies of EPT through chemical adsorption to resist acid attack, demonstrating its potential as an inhibitor for carbon steel. Computational approaches further supported these findings, indicating spontaneous adsorption and affirming the effectiveness of EPT.

Summary: In this study, five novel pyrazolylnucleosides were evaluated for their corrosion inhibition efficiency on the Cu(111) surface in acidic media using theoretical calculations. The results showed that these inhibitors have strong interactions with the Cu(111) surface, indicating excellent predictive inhibition power against copper corrosion.

Insight into the corrosion inhibition of novel macromolecular epoxy resin as highly efficient inhibitor for carbon steel in acidic mediums: Synthesis, characterization, electrochemical techniques, AFM/UV-Visible and computational investigations

R. Hsissou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid solutions in the presence of a newly synthesized macromolecular epoxy resin. The results showed that the compound significantly reduced the corrosion rate of carbon steel by forming a stable protective film on the metal surface, with corrosion efficiencies of about 95.5% in HCl and 98% in H2SO4. Langmuir isotherm model was the most suitable to describe the adsorption of the epoxy resin on the surface of carbon steel. Theoretical calculations supported the experimental results, confirming the epoxy resin as a highly effective inhibitor against carbon steel corrosion in acidic media.

Effects of water vapour on 2-mercaptobenzothiazole corrosion inhibitor films deposited on copper

Xiaocui Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of water on a 2-mercaptobenzothiazole film pre-formed on copper at low pressure and room temperature using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that exposure to water vapor led to desorption of 2-MBT molecules not directly bonded to copper, with cleavage of the bond between exocyclic sulphur and copper, while nitrogen remained bonded to copper.
