Functionalized PP fiber to improve compressive strength and solidification/stabilization performance of cement with heavy metals

Dezhi Zhao et al.

Summary: A functionalized PP fiber (AM-PP) was prepared and used with cement to solidify hazardous solid wastes. The addition of AM-PP improved compressive strength of cement samples containing heavy metals and reduced the adverse effect of heavy metals on cement hydration. More hydration products were generated with the addition of AM-PP, especially in early age, leading to lower leaching of Cu2+, Zn2+, and Pb2+ from cement samples.
