ADAPTIVE TEST OF INDEPENDENCE BASED ON HSIC MEASURES

Melisande Albert et al.

Summary: The Hilbert-Schmidt Independence Criterion (HSIC) is a widely used dependence measure for testing independence between two random vectors. In this work, a new HSIC-based aggregated procedure is developed, which avoids the delicate choice of kernel and provides theoretical guarantees. Numerical studies show the efficiency of the proposed procedure and comparisons with existing tests.

Testing multivariate normality by zeros of the harmonic oscillator in characteristic function spaces

Philip Doerr et al.

Summary: A novel class of affine invariant and consistent tests for normality has been studied, showing consistency against general alternatives, strong power performance for finite samples, and successful application to classical datasets. The results are also useful for model validation procedures.

Multivariate goodness-of-fit tests based on Wasserstein distance

Marc Hallin et al.

Summary: This study proposes goodness-of-fit tests based on empirical Wasserstein distance for simple and composite null hypotheses involving general multivariate distributions. The method is implemented for group families after preliminary data reduction through invariance, allowing for calculation of exact critical values and p-values at finite sample sizes. The proposed tests demonstrate practical feasibility and excellent performance for Wasserstein distance of order p = 1 and p = 2, and for dimensions up to d = 5, with simulations supporting the conjecture of asymptotic validity of the parametric bootstrap.
