Recovery of carbon fiber from prepreg using nitric acid and evaluation of recycled CFRP

Takuma Hanaoka et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the effectiveness of nitric acid decomposition in recovering carbon fibers from CFRP prepeg, maintaining good interfacial shear strength. The recycled CFRP fabricated from the recovered fibers shows comparable tensile properties with virgin CFRP, indicating that the nitric acid decomposition method is a practical and promising approach to recycle carbon fibers.

A Low-Cost Filament Winding Technology for University Laboratories and Startups

Artem Andrianov et al.

Summary: This paper explains the methodology and results of empirical work on the development of low-cost filament winding technology for manufacturing high length-to-diameter ratio polymer composite structures. The authors derived analytical equations for the winding trajectory of a four-axis filament-winding machine and successfully validated their feasibility. Additionally, they evaluated the fiber volume ratio in the wound composite parts.

Amino-functionalized carbon nanotubes for effectively improving the mechanical properties of pre-impregnated epoxy resin/carbon fiber

Alan Silva dos Santos et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of two different amino-functionalized CNTs with varying carbon chain lengths on pre-impregnated carbon fiber/epoxy resin, finding that CNTs with longer carbon chains showed an increase in storage moduli in the composites.
