Thermo-Optically Designed Scalable Photonic Films with High Thermal Conductivity for Subambient and Above-Ambient Radiative Cooling

Pengli Li et al.

Summary: Radiative cooling is a promising passive cooling technology that reflects sunlight and emits heat to deep space without any energy consumption. Current research focuses on cooling non-heat-generating objects, but a scalable photonic film has been developed that can provide subambient cooling performance under direct sunlight and above-ambient cooling performance at night. This innovative film breaks the trade-off between optical reflection and thermal dissipation, providing a new strategy for applications related to light management.

Advanced dielectric polymers for energy storage

Xudong Wu et al.

Summary: The miniaturization of electronic devices and optimization of power systems have placed strict size requirements on passive components like capacitors, driving the need to reduce the thickness of dielectric polymer films. This reduction in thickness leads to higher capacitance density, reduced raw material consumption, and lighter weight modules and systems. However, these changes also present challenges to dielectric properties, surface conditions, and fabrication methods of the films.

Corrosion degradation behavior of PBO fibers under strong inorganic acid

Zhaohui Jiang et al.

Summary: Known as the super fiber of the twenty-first century, PBO fibers exhibit outstanding strength, modulus, fire and heat resistance, but suffer from poor acid corrosion resistance. Exposure to strong acid solutions results in decreased strength and increased modulus, attributed to the formation of N-H bonds. Hydrogen bonds derived from N-H bonds increase thermal degradation temperature. HNO3 treatment causes more destructive effects than H2SO4, penetrating into crystalline regions and destroying the ordered crystal structure of PBO fibers.
