Regular dynamics of active particles in the Van der Pol-Morse chain

A. Bochkarev et al.

Summary: The study on active particles coupled by the Morse potential with Van der Pol dissipation reveals the existence of soliton-like perturbations and two types of kink, slow and fast. The parameters of the kinks are determined by different mathematical equations and the propagation modes of the perturbations in different boundary conditions are investigated.

Impact of Variable Speed on Collective Movement of Animal Groups

Pascal P. Klamser et al.

Summary: Research on animal group dynamics has shown that the variability in individual speed can have a significant impact on emergent collective behavior. Experimental data and theoretical considerations highlight the importance of accounting for speed variability when modeling self-organized collective dynamics.
