Bio-inspired synthesis of RDX@polydopamine@TiO2 double layer core-shell energetic composites with reduced impact and electrostatic discharge sensitivities

Xijin Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of RDX@PDA@TiO2 double layer core-shell energetic composites were successfully constructed to reduce the sensitivities of RDX. Thicker and larger particle size of the amorphous TiO2 shell led to better desensitization effect, indicating a potential alternative method for improving the vulnerability and transportation safety of RDX.

Study on Improving Low-Temperature Mechanical Properties of Nitroguanidine Propellant by Triethanolamine

Bin Xu et al.

Summary: Nitroguanidine (NQ) is a popular ingredient in propellant formulas, known for its ability to control flame temperature. However, its mechanical properties at low temperatures are often poor. Coating NQ with triethanolamine (TEA) has been shown to improve the low-temperature mechanical properties of the propellant, enhancing impact strength, compressive resistance, and extension strength.

Bio-inspired Synthesis of Energetic Microcapsules Core-Shell Structured with Improved Thermal Stability and Reduced Sensitivity via In Situ Polymerization for Application Potential in Propellants

Ling Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared core-shell structured energetic composites using PDA self-polymerization technology, inspired by the composition of attachment proteins in mussels, to improve the thermal stability and safety of energetic crystals while reducing their sensitivity to impact. The results demonstrate that the heat resistance of the PDA layer significantly increases the thermal decomposition temperature of energetic crystals.
