Pd-Immobilized Schiff Base Double-Layer Macrocycle: Synthesis, Structures, Peroxidase Mimic Activity, and Antibacterial Performance

Summary: The study synthesized new double-layer Schiff base macrocycles using aldehydes, and found that one compound immobilized Pd with excellent peroxidase-like catalytic activity, exhibited outstanding bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and showed biosafety in cytotoxicity measurements. These findings have potential to guide innovation in Pd-based composites as enzyme mimetics and antibacterial materials.

Summary: Several new copper(II) mono- and binuclear complexes were synthesized, characterized, and analyzed in this study, including molecular structures, molecular interactions, spectroscopic properties, and chemical reactivity. Density functional theory calculations were used to optimize geometry, frontier molecular orbitals, and natural bond order analysis. The results demonstrate that these complexes exhibit moderate superoxide dismutase mimetic activity.

Catalytic activity of Schiff base monocrystal and its application for colorimetric detection of dopamine

Summary: In this study, a new type of Schiff base crystal (MAPTPA) was synthesized from 2-amino-4-methylphenol and terephthalaldehyde, exhibiting intrinsic visible light-induced oxidase-like catalytic activity using dissolved oxygen and (1)O(2) as key reactive species. The synthesized crystal showed high substrate affinity and catalytic efficiency, leading to the development of a sensitive visual sensing strategy for dopamine detection. The Schiff base monocrystal may have potential applications in life sciences such as biosensors, biosynthesis, and photodynamic therapy in the future.
