A porous, mechanically strong and thermally stable zeolitic imidazolate framework-8@bacterial cellulose/aramid nanofibers composite separator for advanced lithium-ion batteries

Sufeng Zhang et al.

Summary: A high-performance composite membrane composed of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8@bacterial cellulose matrix and aramid nanofibers filler was developed as the separator for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The composite separator exhibited high tensile strength, thermal resistance, flame retardancy, electrolyte wettability, and ion conductivity, leading to improved safety and performance of the batteries.

Aramid Nanofiber Membranes Reinforced by MXene Nanosheets for Recovery of Dyes from Textile Wastewater

Yang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a MXene-reinforced aramid nanofiber membrane was developed, showing excellent performance in high dye/salt selectivity and low salt rejection, with separation factors for Alcian Blue, Congo Red, and Rose Bengal. The mechanism behind the enhanced permeability and selectivity of the MXene/ANF composite membrane mainly lies in the reinforced rigidity of the membrane by the intercalated MXene. This study highlights the promising potential of nanofibrous membranes reinforced by rigid 2D materials for effectively separating dyes and salts in textile wastewaters.

Aqueous One-Step Modulation for Synthesizing Monodispersed ZIF-8 Nanocrystals for Mixed-Matrix Membrane

Xu Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a method was developed to synthesize monodispersed ZIF-8 nanocrystals with unique dopamine surface decoration layer in situ, which went through a triple-stage crystallization process to form a rhombic dodecahedron structure. The resulting ZIF-8-DA nanocrystals maintained their crystallinity and abundant microporosity, leading to enhanced gas permeability and selectivity in mixed-matrix membranes.
