A new type of perylene diimide attached AgCl photocatalyst (PDISA/AgCl) was prepared by one-step chemical precipitation method. Some characterizations, like XRD, SEM and XPS, etc, were measured to analyze its crystal structure, surface characteristics, elemental composition. From the characterization results, PDISA/AgCl exhibited broader light absorption range and higher separation efficiency of photoinduced charge. During the photodegradation process, PDISA/AgCl composites can effectively degrade rhodamine B (RhB), methyl orange (MO), methylene blue (MB) and tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), especially in the degradation of RhB, it shows excellent stability performance. Therefore, the PDISA/AgCl composite is an efficient and stable photocatalyst. Finally, the possible photocatalytic mechanism is proposed. The prepared new photocatalyst show good application prospects in photodegradation of water pollution and environmental treatment.
