Improvement of insulation properties of glass fiber fabric/epoxy composites modified by polymeric and inorganic fillers

Pelin Altay et al.

Summary: This study aims to improve the sound absorption and thermal insulation properties of GEC by incorporating fillers such as HGMs, PS microfiber membrane, and PS solution. Results show that incorporating PS solution into GEC provides higher sound absorption coefficient and improves thermal insulation, while the use of PS microfiber membrane also enhances the thermal insulation properties. HGM did not show improvement in either thermal insulation or sound absorption properties of GEC due to agglomeration.

Organic modification of layered zirconium phosphate/phosphonate for controlled release of therapeutic inorganic ions

Jin Nakamura et al.

Summary: The study developed organically modified LZP powder to control the release of therapeutic inorganic ions. The amount of organic molecules increased with increasing molar fractions of phenylphosphonic acid in the starting composition. The highest amount of Co2+ was incorporated in the ZP-Ph-0.5 sample, which also had the ability to incorporate copper or iron ions.

SiC Nanowire-Si3N4 Nanobelt Interlocking Interfacial Enhancement of Carbon Fiber Composites with Boosting Mechanical and Frictional Properties

Leilei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel interlocking enhancement strategy by incorporating silicon carbide nanowires and silicon nitride nanobelts into carbon fiber composites to improve their mechanical and frictional properties. The interlocking enhancement mechanism not only increases the interlaminar shear strength and compressive strength of the composites, but also decreases the friction coefficient and wear rate.
