New insights for improving ilmenite flotation via surface modification with lead ions

Xuan Zhao et al.

Summary: The research illustrated the adsorption behavior of lead ions on ilmenite surface and found that lead ions activated ilmenite flotation by promoting the adsorption of sodium oleate, leading to a positive shift of surface charge and an increase in surface active sites. The Pb(OH)(+) was identified as the main active species on activating ilmenite flotation, adsorbing onto O, Fe, and Ti surface sites on ilmenite through the bridging action of the O atom.

Adsorption differences of carboxymethyl cellulose depressant on ilmenite and titanaugite

Zhitao Yuan et al.

Summary: The study showed that under alkaline conditions, the addition of CMC can improve the flotation selectivity of ilmenite and expand the floatability difference between ilmenite and titanaugite. Analysis of the adsorption and chemical reaction of CMC on the surfaces of these minerals revealed different interaction forms leading to the difference in their floatability.

New cognitions into three new classified titanaugite in mineralogical characteristics and fundamental performances

Yusheng Du et al.

Summary: The study on three new classifications of purified titanaugite revealed differences in chemical composition, structure, magnetic performance, surface property, and flotation performance. These differences were influenced by the variations in crystal structure and surface properties, which in turn affected the magnetic and flotation behaviors of titanaugite-1, titanaugite-2, and titanaugite-3.

Study on the flotation behavior and interaction mechanism of ilmenite with mixed BHA/NaOL collector

Yuankai Xu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the mixed BHA/NaOL collector performed better in improving the floatability of ilmenite in the presence of lead ions compared to single BHA and NaOL collectors. Through measurements and analysis of surface properties, it was confirmed that the mixed collectors exhibited advantages in adsorption amount and surface properties.
