UV-Vis-NIR Light-deformable Shape-memory Polyurethane Doped with Liquid-crystal Mixture and GO towards Biomimetic Applications

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: This study designed a UV-Vis-NIR light-deformable SMP composite film by incorporating a liquid crystal mixture and graphene oxide into a shape-memory polyurethane matrix. The elongated composite films exhibited interesting photomechanical bending deformations with different light-triggered mechanisms. The biomimetic circadian rhythms of acacia leaves and the biomimetic bending/spreading of fingers were successfully achieved.

Highly efficient infrared stealth asymmetric-structure waterborne polyurethane composites prepared via one-step density-driven filler separation method

Yuqi Chang et al.

Summary: This study develops highly efficient infrared (IR) stealth composites with low emissivity and thermal insulation by combining silver-plated hollow glass microspheres (HGM-Ag) and waterborne polyurethane (WPU). The composites have an asymmetric structure, with HGM-Ag concentrated on top as the low emissivity layer and a bottom layer with low thermal conductivity serving as the thermal insulation layer, providing outstanding mechanical properties.

Infrared stealth nanofibrous composites with thermal adaptability and mechanical flexibility

K. Y. Fang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of fibrous membrane composites with different amounts of VO2 fillers on the infrared radiation and mechanical properties, revealing a sudden drop in infrared emissivity around 68 degrees Celsius for composites with VO2. Additionally, an increase in VO2 content leads to a decrease in fracture strength and strain under uniaxial tension.

Mid-infrared optimized electroreflective device based on PEDOT/PSS

Peiyu Tan et al.

Summary: A new device with adjustable reflective capabilities in the mid-IR is elaborated by optimizing the reflectance performance through specific material combinations and mechanical perforating method. The study shows that adopting thin PEDOT/PSS on a non-porous substrate can achieve large amplitude reflectance regulation, and the mechanical perforating method addresses the issue of ion transport, enhancing the performance of the device.

Achieving variable infrared emissivity modulation regions of poly(aniline) films:the effect of film surface morphology on the optical tunability

Leipeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, functional poly(aniline) films with significantly different emissivity modulation capabilities were obtained by tailoring the surface morphology. PANI2 with a non-directionally distributed nanowirelike structure and PANI6 with a rather smooth surface decorated by shallow voids could achieve emissivity variations in the wavelength range of 2.5-25 μm. The reason for the thermal radiation energies of PANI2 being higher than those of PANI6 was due to the residual PANI in PANI2 not being involved in redox reactions and the multiple reflections by non-directionally distributed nanowires on the surface suppressing the reflection of incident IR light. Additionally, PANI2 was found to have greater heat dissipation capabilities at a high emissivity state, while PANI6 effectively suppressed heat dissipation at a low emissivity state.

Infrared radiation and thermal properties of Al-doped SrZrO3 perovskites for potential infrared stealth coating materials in the high-temperature environment

Enbo Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the infrared radiation performance and thermophysical properties of Al-doped SrZrO3 perovskite powder at high temperatures. By controlling the doping content, phase composition, and particle morphology, perovskite powder with low infrared emissivity and perovskite ceramic with ideal heat insulation performance were successfully prepared. The Al-doped SrZrO3 perovskite tablet exhibited weak radiation intensity at high temperatures due to its characteristics of low infrared emissivity and thermal conductivity.
