Nitrobenzene inarched carbon nitride nanotube drives efficient directional carriers separation for superior photocatalytic hydrogen production

Yingying Jiao et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon nitride was modified to enhance its photocatalytic performance. A novel nitrobenzene inarched g-C3N4 nanotube photocatalyst (CN-DNP) was successfully fabricated via a facial copolymerization method. The aromatic ring in nitrobenzene could enhance the conjugation of carbon nitride and promote electron delocalization. The introduction of the nitro group enabled electrons to transfer from the center to both ends of the g-C3N4 nanotube, effectively separating the photogenerated electrons and holes. The modified nanotube material showed a narrower bandgap and improved photocatalytic performance.

The fabrication of 1D/2D CdS nanorod@Ti3C2 MXene composites for good photocatalytic activity of hydrogen generation and ammonia synthesis

Benteng Sun et al.

Summary: The study prepared unique 1D/2D CdS nanorod@Ti3C2 MXene composites photocatalysts, achieving suitable band structure and superior electronic reduction capability of CdS to enhance photocatalytic performance. Ti3C2 MXene NSs with good electronic transfer capability prevented carrier recombination, while the multilayer structure provided more reactive sites. The CdS@Ti3C2-15 composite showed excellent photocatalytic performance, with higher AQE and long-term stability.

Z-scheme g-C3N4/C/S-g-C3N4 heterostructural nanotube with enhanced porous structure and visible light driven photocatalysis

Ying Yang et al.

Summary: The mesoporous Z-scheme g-C3N4/C/S-g-C3N4 heterostructural nanotube demonstrated high efficiency in degrading MB, RhB, and CR, achieving a remarkable reaction rate for MB degradation under visible light irradiation. The in situ fabrication of high surface area g-C3N4/C/S-g-C3N4 heterostructural nanotube represents a promising approach for enhancing the porous structure and photocatalytic performance of ternary Z-scheme photocatalysts.

Fumaric Acid Assistant Band Structure Tunable Nitrogen Defective g-C3N4 Fabrication for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Tao Yu et al.

Summary: Nitrogen defective g-C3N4 with enhanced electron content and stronger H2O molecule adsorption capacity was successfully fabricated through one-pot thermal polymerization of urea and fumaric acid. The formation of nitrogen defects was attributed to the reaction between the carboxyl group of fumaric acid and the amino group of urea. The changes in band structures led to improved visible light absorption, efficient charge separation, and increased hydrogen evolution driving force.

Highly-crystalline Triazine-PDI Polymer with an Enhanced Built-in Electric Field for Full-Spectrum Photocatalytic Phenol Mineralization

Hanjie Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the critical influence of crystallinity and adjustments of the built-in electric field on the photocatalytic activity of PDI. The enhanced dipole and high degree of crystallinity of triazine-PDI enable a higher rate of photo-induced charge separation and transfer, resulting in improved phenol degradation and organic carbon removal rates compared to bulk g-C3N4 and supramolecular PDI.

Molecular engineering of carbon nitride towards photocatalytic H2 evolution and dye degradation

Asif Hayat et al.

Summary: The incorporation of organic electron-rich heterocyclic monomer 2,6-dimethylmorpholine (MP) into electron-poor graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) semiconductor by solid-state co-polymerization for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from Rhodamine B dyes (RhB) has been shown to enhance the performance significantly. The results indicate the potential for tailor-designed photocatalysts with effective pollutant degradable capabilities, with the CN-MP copolymer showing six times higher hydrogen evolution rate and two times higher pseudo-order kinetic constant for RhB photodegradation compared to g-CN.
