Techno-economic analysis of an integrated electrocoagulation-membrane system in treatment of palm oil mill effluent

Muhammad Syaamil Saad et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new integrated electrocoagulation-membrane system for treating palm oil mill effluent (POME), which shows better removal efficiency and lower operating costs compared to the traditional electrocoagulation system. Economic analysis results demonstrate that the integrated system has lower initial costs and achieves cost savings of 21.24% over a 15-year period compared to the conventional system.

Evaluation of toxicity and mutagenicity of a synthetic effluent containing azo dye after Advanced Oxidation Process treatment

Barbara Lopes Alderete et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the toxicity and mutagenic capacity of a synthetic effluent containing Amido Black 10B (AB10B) azo dye before and after treatment with Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP). The treated effluent showed 100% immobility to D. magna after treatment, while the original effluent induced chromosomal mutations in A. cepa test, but did not induce gene mutations in S. typhimurium strains.

Effect of dye structure on color removal efficiency by coagulation

Felix Mcyotto et al.

Summary: The study showed that the dye structures significantly affect the color removal efficiency by coagulation, and the best dye-coagulant combinations for dyes with the same structures and functional groups can enhance the removal efficiency. It was also found that dyes with the same auxochromes and charge exhibit similar color removal efficiency when treated with the same coagulant.

Bio-inspired ZnO NPs synthesized from Citrus sinensis peels extract for Congo red removal from textile wastewater via photocatalysis: Optimization, mechanisms, techno-economic analysis

G. Yashni et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of biosynthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles from orange peels extract for the photocatalytic treatment of congo red dye wastewater. The optimal operating parameters were determined using response surface methodology, and a techno-economic analysis was conducted. The results showed that ZnO NPs had good degradation efficiency, moderate production cost, and potential application in dye wastewater treatment.
