Non-covalent self-assembly synthesis of AQ2S@rGO nanocomposite for the degradation of sulfadiazine under solar irradiation: The indispensable effect of chloride

Hydrophilic graphene quantum dots as turn-off fluorescent nanoprobes for toxic heavy metal ions detection in aqueous media

Summary: Efforts are being made to develop fast, cost-effective and sensitive sensors to detect water contamination by toxic heavy metal ions, using oxygenated functional groups decorated graphene quantum dots (GQDs) which effectively enhance aqueous solubility. The fluorescence quenching results showed that the synthesized GQDs are efficient fluorescent probes for heavy metal ions, with detection limits for Hg2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ being 1.171 mu M, 2.455 mu M, and 2.011 mu M respectively.

Sub-ppb mercury detection in real environmental samples with an improved rhodamine-based detection system

Summary: A new procedure utilizing a Rhodamine-based fluorescent sensor has been developed to accurately detect Hg2+ ions in water samples. With optimized experimental conditions, including the incorporation of Rhodamine-6G fluorophore and a buffer system with acetic acid at pH 5.25, the sensitivity and selectivity have been significantly enhanced. This procedure has been successfully applied to tap and river waters with good results.
