A green and sensitive guanine-based DNA biosensor for idarubicin anticancer monitoring in biological samples: A simple and fast strategy for control of health quality in chemotherapy procedure confirmed by docking investigation

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: Pt- and Pd-incorporated ZnO nanoparticles-decorated single-wall carbon nanotubes (Pt-Pd-ZnO/SWCNTs) nanocomposites were used to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the detection of idarubicin. The morphology and structure of the nanocomposite were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The modified electrode, ds-DNA/Pt-Pd-ZnO/SWCNTs/GCE, was fabricated using a layer-by-layer modification technique and used as a voltammetric sensor for sensitive monitoring of idarubicin. The biosensor showed good performance in detecting idarubicin with a detection limit of 0.8 nM.

Morphology-controlled synthesis of gold nanoparticles with chitosan for catalytic reduction of nitrophenol

Qiaoya Zhu et al.

Summary: Gold nanoparticles were synthesized using chitosan as a reducing agent and stabilizer, and their catalytic activity in the reduction of nitrophenol was investigated. The results showed that the morphology of the nanoparticles could be controlled by adjusting the concentration, molecular weight, and deacetylation degree of chitosan. The catalytic activity of the nanoparticles was found to be dependent on their morphology and the nature of the reducing agent and stabilizer.

Recent advances in carbon nanomaterials-based electrochemical sensors for food azo dyes detection

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: Azo dyes are widely used food colorants for their stability and affordability. However, they can have harmful impacts on living organs, necessitating the control of their content in food. Electro-analytical techniques have been favored for detecting azo dyes due to their sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility, miniaturization, green nature, low cost, short sample preparation and detection time, and electrode modification capabilities. Carbon-based nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and graphene (Gr), have shown satisfactory results in the fabrication of electrochemical sensing systems for detecting the levels of azo dyes in various specimens.

(Bis)phosphonic Acid-Functionalized Poly(ethyleneimine)- Poly(amido amine)s for Selective In Vitro Transfection of Osteosarcoma Cells

Gozde Demirci et al.

Summary: In this study, low molecular weight branched PEI and PAA macromers functionalized with varying amounts of (bis)phosphonic acid groups and pentanol were combined to create PAEIs with improved cytocompatibility and transfection efficiency. The presence of ALE in PAEIs resulted in better transfection compared to those containing APA, and they were found to be more cytocompatible than 25 kDa PEI. The most efficient PAEI polymer, with a 0.7:0.3 AP/ALE ratio, exhibited significantly higher transfection efficiency and cytocompatibility, making it a promising candidate for targeted gene therapy of osteosarcoma.
