Hydrogen-Bonded Engineering Enhancing Phase Transition Temperature in Molecular Perovskite Ferroelastic

Tie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, we report a molecular perovskite ferroelastic material (Me-Hdabco)Rb[BF4](3) with high temperature ferroelastic phase transitions. The transition temperature range of (Me-Hdabco)Rb[BF4](3) is significantly increased compared to traditional materials. Structural and thermal analyses indicate that the phase transition is mainly attributed to the order and disorder transformation of dynamic cations. New hydrogen bonds between cations and the Rb-8[BF4](12) framework increase their intermolecular force, leading to the improved phase transition temperature. This finding has important implications for the design and optimization of functional materials utilizing weak interaction forces.
