Bioinspired Nanocomposites with Self-Adaptive Stress Dispersion for Super-Foldable Electrodes

Guangtao Zan et al.

Summary: In this study, a conductive nanocomposite material with super-foldable performance was prepared by mimicking the microstructures of silk cocoon and Mimosa leaf, capable of sustaining over 100,000 times of repeated true-folding without structural damage or electrical conductivity degradation. This material demonstrated a self-adaptive stress-dispersion mechanism and showed promising potential as a super-foldable anode electrode for aqueous batteries in soft-matter electronics.

Dual Carbon Design Strategy for Anodes of Sodium-Ion Battery: Mesoporous CoS2/CoO on Open Framework Carbon-Spheres with rGO Encapsulating

Ran Sui et al.

Summary: A dual carbon design strategy is proposed in this study to address the issues of sluggish electrochemical kinetics and poor long-term stability in transition metal sulfides and oxides as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The dual carbon design effectively promotes electron transfer, provides more electrochemical active sites, and buffers volume expansion, leading to enhanced reaction kinetics and long-term cycling property.

Two-Level Biomimetic Designs Enable Intelligent Stress Dispersion for Super-Foldable C/NiS Nanofiber Free-Standing Electrode

Guangtao Zan et al.

Summary: Due to the lack of understanding about the folding issues of electronic materials, preparing a super-foldable and highly electrochemical electrode is a big challenge. Inspired by natural structures, researchers have successfully developed a biomimetic electrode that can sustain repeated folding without any degradation in performance or structural damage. This research provides insights into the mechanism behind this behavior and paves the way for the fabrication of multifunctional super-foldable electronic devices.
