Rapid, Ordered Polymerization of Crystalline Semiconducting Covalent Triazine Frameworks

This study demonstrates the effective recycling of methylene blue as a precursor in carbon-based catalytic materials.

Ladder-type π-conjugated metallophthalocyanine covalent organic frameworks with boosted oxygen reduction reaction activity and durability for zinc-air batteries

Summary: pi-Conjugated two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising oxygen electrocatalysts due to their controllable architectures, excellent electrical conductivity, and highly exposed molecular active sites. In this study, a novel ladder type pi-conjugated two-dimensional benzoimidazobenzophenanthroline-linked iron-phthalocyanine COF (FePc-BBL COF) was synthesized and exhibited exceptional oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and kinetics. The FePc-BBL COF showed a remarkable half-wave potential and a low Tafel slope in alkaline media. Additionally, it demonstrated a high turnover frequency and mass activity, surpassing the performance of Pt/C. When applied as a cathode electrocatalyst for zinc-air batteries, the FePc-BBL COF displayed superior power density, specific capacity, and long-term durability compared to Pt/C. This work provides a promising strategy for designing stable and efficient electrocatalysts for sustainable energy conversion and storage devices.

Summary: The ORR catalytic activity of four novel two-dimensional porphyrin COFs was tuned by changing the M atom in the center of the porphyrin backbone. The experimental structure-function relationship was consistent with density functional theory calculations based on the O-2-O-2*-OOH*-O*-OH*-OH- route.
