Efficient recovery of carboxylates from the effluents treated by advanced oxidation processes using flow-electrode capacitive deionization in short-circuited closed-cycle operation

Chao Yu et al.

Summary: Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are efficient methods for a wide range of organic substances, but the decomposition of organic pollutants can lead to the formation of carboxylates that are difficult to further degrade. Therefore, recovering small molecular carboxylates from effluents is a significant strategy, but conventional electrochemical technology may result in organic matter degradation and high energy consumption.
