Bimetallic oxides with package structure for enhanced degradation of bisphenol a through peroxymonosulfate activation

Jiabin Dan et al.

Summary: The research investigated bimetallic oxides with a package structure for efficient activation of PMS and degradation of BPA. The optimal molar ratio of Co and Mg and the influences of various factors on BPA degradation were evaluated. The addition of anions and NOM showed positive and negative effects on BPA degradation in the catalyst/PMS system, and the stability of the catalyst was demonstrated through leaching experiments. Additionally, the activation mechanism of PMS and proposed degradation pathways of BPA and its intermediates were analyzed.

Efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 using Fe-based covalent triazine frameworks decorated with in situ grown ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles

Yi-long Yan et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into high-value chemicals is important for adjusting energy structures and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Experimental results show that anchoring sites of FeP-CTFs can effectively promote the crystal-plane ratio, leading to higher photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity of ZnFe2O4/FeP-CTFs compared to other materials.

Enhanced removal of bisphenol A using pine-fruit shell-derived hydrochars: Adsorption mechanisms and reusability

Hugo Henrique Carline de Lima et al.

Summary: NaOH-activated hydrochars were synthesized through hydrothermal carbonization of Brazilian pine fruit shells for different residence times. These hydrochars exhibited high surface area and maximum adsorption of BPA at pH 7.0. Adsorption occurred mainly through monolayer formation with low retention time of the adsorbate, indicating endothermic spontaneous process. Desorption was more efficient with ethanol and methanol due to dipole-dipole forces, while desorption efficiency with acid, base, and salts was lower due to competitive effects.

High-efficiency degradation of bisphenol A by heterogeneous Mn-Fe layered double oxides through peroxymonosulfate activation: Performance and synergetic mechanism

Li Li et al.

Summary: The Mn-Fe bimetal catalyst showed excellent activation properties in degrading BPA and COD efficiently, along with outstanding reusability and stability. The synergistic effect and electron transfer between Mn and Fe, as well as the importance of surface hydroxyl groups for promoting electron transfer, were confirmed through experiments and analyses. The presence of Mn and Fe active sites and hydroxyl groups on the Mn-Fe LDO surface efficiently promoted electron transfer, accelerating the redox cycles and generating main radicals for the degradation process.
