PO43- Coordinated Robust Single-Atom Platinum Catalyst for Selective Polyol Oxidation

Hao Yan et al.

Summary: Efficient catalytic conversion in aqueous solution with excellent resistance against leaching remains a challenge. The design of a single-atom Pt-1/hydroxyapatite (HAP) catalyst results in remarkable catalytic selectivity and stability for the oxidation of C-2-C-4 polyols to hydroxy acids. The Pt-(O-P) linkages with PO43- serve as active sites for activation of C-H bonds and destabilization of the transition state, increasing the selectivity of hydroxy acids. The strong PO43--coordination effect provides electrostatic stabilization and ensures superior leaching resistance for Pt-1/HAP catalyst.

Rational screening of transition metal single-atom-doped ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst for naphtha cracking from microkinetic analysis

Shangfeng Li et al.

Summary: Metal doped ZSM-5 catalysts have been extensively studied for their unique catalytic activity in C-H bond activation. In this work, we used density functional theory calculations and microkinetic analysis to explore the catalytic activity of 12 transition metal single-atom-doped ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts in the catalytic cracking of naphtha. Our results show a strong electronic interaction between the metal atom and ZSM-5 skeleton, leading to a stable structure that enhances hydrocarbon adsorption and promotes C-H bond activation and carbenium ion cracking. Carbon and hydrogen binding energy were identified as descriptors for catalytic activity.

One-step leap in achieving oil-to-chemicals by using a two-stage riser reactor: Molecular-level process model and multi-objective optimization strategy

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: With the decline in demand for vehicle fuels, crude oil to chemical technology shows great potential in driving industry transition. A new process called OSCO is proposed for efficient cracking and refining of various oils in a two-stage reactor. The process achieves stable conversion of crude oil into light olefins with superior performance.

Propylene and aromatics from ethylene conversion over ZSM-5: Effect of zeolite composition

Debora da Silva Fernandes et al.

Summary: ZSM-5 zeolite combined with metal species can tune the activity and selectivity to specific compounds, with tungsten species favoring aromatics formation and lanthanum promoting light olefins production. The density of acid sites and the presence of Lewis acid sites influence product distribution in metal-impregnated zeolites.

Effect of small amounts of Al on the surface silanol structure and their correlation to the improved catalytic performances of WOx/SiO2-Al2O3 in the propene self-metathesis

N. Hongrutai et al.

Summary: In this study, the surface silanol structures, acid properties, and tungsten dispersion of sol-gel-derived 7W/SiO2-xAl2O3 catalyst were investigated using various analytical techniques. The addition of 1 wt% Al2O3 was found to effectively preserve the Si(OH)Al structure, leading to the best catalytic performance in propene self-metathesis reaction.

Coke deactivation and regeneration of HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts in the oligomerization of 1-butene

Marta Diaz et al.

Summary: The deactivation of HZSM-5 catalysts in 1-butene oligomerization is mainly caused by the confinement of oligomers (soft coke) in the catalyst matrix. Soft coke is removed at 400 degrees C by TPS-N-2, while hard coke is removed by combustion. Two types of hard coke are distinguished, with the fraction located in zeolite micropores being more refractory to combustion.

Recycling of industrial waste based on jute fiber-polypropylene: Manufacture of sustainable fiber-reinforced polymer composites and their characterization before and after accelerated aging

Paula Bertolino Sanvezzo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential of using industrial waste of jute and polypropylene fibers to manufacture composite materials with excellent mechanical properties, where nano-calcium carbonate (N) acts as a mechanical reinforcement in the polymer matrix. Accelerated aging results in a slight reduction in material stiffness, but drastically decreases elongation.
