Understanding the oxygen-vacancy-related catalytic cycle for H2 oxidation on ceria-based SOFC anode and the promotion effect of lanthanide doping from theoretical perspectives

Summary: This study used density functional theory calculations to investigate the catalytic cycle of oxygen vacancy generation and recovery on lanthanide-doped ceria, revealing that lanthanide doping promotes various steps in the catalytic cycle. Sm-doped ceria showed the best promotion effect for the whole oxygen-vacancy-related catalytic cycle, in line with experimental observations.
