DNA Origami-Anthraquinone Hybrid Nanostructures for In Vivo Quantitative Monitoring of the Progression of Tumor Hypoxia Affected by Chemotherapy

Yun Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, we developed a DNA origami-based theranostic nanoplatform to explain the variation of tumor hypoxia during chemotherapy. Through in vitro and in vivo experiments, we demonstrated that the nanoplatform can release drugs and alleviate tumor hypoxia. Photoacoustic and fluorescence imaging were used to evaluate these effects.

In Situ Hypoxia-Induced Supramolecular Perylene Diimide Radical Anions in Tumors for Photothermal Therapy with Improved Specificity

Hua Wang et al.

Summary: The study presents a hypoxia-induced specific photothermal therapy using supramolecular perylene diimide radical anions, which shows excellent photothermal therapeutic efficiency, specificity, and biological safety. After the treatment, the hypoxia inducible factor expression of tumors decreases to the normal level, indicating the potential of the strategy in improving specificity and safety of photothermal therapy for hypoxic tumors.

Tumor microenvironment responsive Mn3O4 nanoplatform for in vivo real-time monitoring of drug resistance and photothermal/chemodynamic synergistic therapy of gastric cancer

Hanrui Li et al.

Summary: This article describes the development of a self-enhanced Mn3O4 nanoplatform for real-time monitoring and treatment of multidrug resistance (MDR) in gastric cancer. The nanoplatform can enhance TI-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and specifically target MDR cells. It also exhibits good chemodynamic activity and photothermal conversion effect, which contribute to the treatment of MDR. In addition, in situ photothermal/chemodynamic synergistic therapy shows promising results.
