Effective degradation of norfloxacin on Ag3PO4/CNTs photoanode: Z-scheme mechanism, reaction pathway, and toxicity assessment

Yihan Lv et al.

Summary: This study synthesized Ag3PO4/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for the photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) degradation of norfloxacin (NOR) and investigated the factors affecting NOR degradation efficiency, achieving a high degradation efficiency under optimal conditions. PEC degradation showed the highest degradation efficiency and a significant synergetic effect compared to photocatalytic and electrocatalytic degradation. The Z-scheme mechanism of Ag3PO4/CNTs was proposed to explain the excellent degradation efficiency and reduction in toxicity of NOR and its intermediates.

Fabrication of environmentally-friendly composited sponges for efficient removal of fluoroquinolones antibiotics from water*

Boqiang Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, two environmentally-friendly macroscopically formal (PVF) composited sponges (PL and PLS) functionalized with lignin and lignosulfonate, respectively, were fabricated by a one-step mechanical foaming method. PLS showed a high adsorption capacity for removing seven antibiotics from water, attributed to its large specific surface area and the dominant role of electrostatic attraction in near neutral conditions. These composited sponges have the advantages of simple production, environmental-friendliness, convenient recycle, and low cost, making them potentially viable in treating real wastewater.

Ag@AgCl Photocatalyst Loaded on the 3D Graphene/PANI Hydrogel for the Enhanced Adsorption-Photocatalytic Degradation and In Situ SERS Monitoring Properties

Fenghua Chen et al.

Summary: The 3D GH/PANI/Ag@AgCl composites were successfully synthesized, showing superior adsorption-photocatalytic degradation performance due to the synergistic effects of porous GH network structure, conductive PANI, and the localized surface plasmon resonance of Ag@AgCl. By employing PL spectra and photoelectrochemical measurements, the reasons for enhanced photocatalytic activity were investigated, along with a proposed improved degradation mechanism. The catalyst also allows for real-time SERS detection and promising application in water purification due to its easy separation and good regeneration property.
