Enhanced degradation of chloramphenicol through peroxymonosulfate and visible light over Z-scheme Photocatalysts: Synergetic performance and mechanism insights

Yi Wu et al.

Summary: The effective removal of antibiotics in the environment is a challenging issue related to ecosystem and human health. This study presents an efficient system for degrading chloramphenicol in water by integrating photocatalysis and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) oxidation technologies. By constructing a heterojunction and doping, the system shows increased oxygen vacancy and adjusted bandgap, promoting electron transfer and photogenerated carrier separation. Through degradation experiments and analysis, the potential route for chloramphenicol degradation is proposed, providing inspiration for remediation of polluted water with perovskite-based catalysts under the synergistic effect of PMS and photocatalysis.
