Novel 3D Bioglass Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Regeneration

Evangelos Daskalakis et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method for preparing polycaprolactone/bioglass scaffolds with pore size gradient by investigating the coupled effect between material composition and scaffold architecture. The results show that the addition of bioglass improves the mechanical properties and biological performance of the scaffolds.

3d Printing of Porous Glass Products Using the Robocasting Technique

O. Derevianko et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigated the 3D printing of porous glass products using the robocasting technique. The preparation of glass-based pastes and the printing process were established, and recommendations for the printing of porous glass products were developed. Experimental tests were conducted to determine the optimal parameters for 3D printing, and a modification to the printing module was proposed. The heat treatment process and sintering of the printed samples were studied, resulting in glass samples with complex shapes and high porosity.

Green Glass Foams from Wastes Designed for Thermal Insulation

N. P. Stochero et al.

Summary: Glass foams were successfully produced using discarded glass bottles and pine scales as pore former agents, with porosities between 78% and 86%, thermal conductivities between 0.072 and 0.093 W/mK, and compressive mechanical strengths between 0.2 and 3.4 MPa. These foams have potential for applications requiring thermal insulation and non-flammability.

Foam 3D printing for construction: A review of applications, materials, and processes

Patrick Bedarf et al.

Summary: This review aimed to define the field of foam 3DP (F3DP) in construction and provide an overview of relevant developments, challenges, and future research by analyzing over 150 peer-reviewed articles and research reports. Three major themes within the academic debate about F3DP were identified: developments in material composition and design, printing and processing technologies, and future challenges in application and material processing. The review brings together promising advancements in F3DP for construction into a systematic overview and opens new horizons in research and development for sustainable construction processes.
