Fibronectin is essential for formation of fenestrae in endothelial cells of the fenestrated capillary

Takashi Nakakura et al.

Summary: In this study, fenestrated endothelial cells were isolated from the rat pituitary and analyzed for gene expression levels related to ECM receptors using real-time PCR. Fibronectin was found to be the principal factor in maintaining sieve plate structures in fenestrated capillary endothelial cells, along with sustaining the expression pattern of specific endothelial marker genes.

Fibronectin-integrin signaling regulates PLVAP localization at endothelial fenestrae by microtubule stabilization

Takashi Nakakura et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of fibronectin signaling in the formation of fenestrae and diaphragms in endothelial cells. It was found that fibronectin-integrin alpha 5 beta 1 signaling pathway regulates the microtubule cytoskeletons required for the transport of PLVAP proteins from the Golgi apparatus to sieve plates.

The Cytoplasmic Actins in the Regulation of Endothelial Cell Function

Vera B. Dugina et al.

Summary: Endothelial cells (EC) line the inner surface of vessels and regulate vascular permeability, with their actin cytoskeleton crucial for maintaining endothelial barrier function. Non-muscle cells express two actin isoforms, beta and gamma, which have different roles in cell survival, cell division, and neoplastic transformation depending on the cell type. The spatial organization of cytoplasmic actins in different cell types, particularly in endothelial cells, is closely linked to their functional activity.
