Transformations of citral over bifunctional Ru-H-Y-80 extrudates in a continuous reactor

Zuzana Vajglova et al.

Summary: One-pot transformations of citral were investigated over Ru-catalysts in both batch and continuous modes. The study found that the Z/E-citral ratio decreased with increasing Ru particle size, and the Ru/H-Y-80 extrudates exhibited comparable catalytic behavior.

Citral-to-Menthol Transformations in a Continuous Reactor over Ni/Mesoporous Aluminosilicate Extrudates Containing a Sepiolite Clay Binder

Irina L. Simakova et al.

Summary: A one-pot continuous synthesis of menthols from citral was achieved with high selectivity under specific conditions. Catalyst deactivation over time resulted in a decrease in the selectivity to menthols and an increase in the selectivity to isopulegols. A kinetic model was developed to describe the reaction, taking into account both metal and acid site deactivation, and showed good agreement with the experimental data.

Continuous synthesis of menthol from citronellal and citral over Ni-beta-zeolite-sepiolite composite catalyst

Irina Simakova et al.

Summary: One-pot continuous synthesis of menthols from citronellal and citral was investigated using a 5 wt% Ni supported catalyst. The reaction conditions were optimized to achieve high yields and stereoselectivity to menthol. The conversion of citral decreased with time-on-stream accompanied by the accumulation of citronellal and the formation of defunctionalization products.

Summary: Mesoporous H-MCM-41 catalysts with different concentrations of the silica Bindzil binder (10-50 wt%) were characterized using PFG NMR, and it was found that the diffusivity was smaller for the extrudates compared to the powder catalysts. Correlations between diffusive coefficients and various properties were discussed.

Peptization of alumina by ammonia to adjust catalytic properties of NiMo/ B-Al2O3 hydrotreating catalysts

Yu. V. Vatutina et al.

Summary: NiMo/B-Al2O3 catalysts for VGO hydrotreating were prepared using different peptizing agents (nitric acid or ammonium solution). Catalysts peptized by ammonia showed higher activity, and the coexistence of ammonia and boron increased the slab length of active component while decreasing the stacking number. Boron-containing catalysts exhibited higher activity in HDS reactions.

Deactivation and regeneration of Pt-modified zeolite Beta-Bindzil extrudates in n-hexane hydroisomerization

Zuzana Vajglova et al.

Summary: Metal-acid bifunctional catalysts play a crucial role in various industrial chemical processes, such as hydroisomerization of n-hexane. This study investigated the deactivation and regeneration of metal-acid bifunctional extrudates during continuous n-hexane hydroisomerization in a fixed-bed reactor. The results showed that the location of the metal has a greater impact on catalyst deactivation than the metal-to-acid site ratio or site proximity. Decline in n-hexane conversion and selectivity to C-6 isomers were associated with changes in the textural properties and acidity of the deactivated catalyst.

Influence of ZSM-5 porosity and binder introduction on the coke formation in the cracking of 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene

Shufang Zhao et al.

Summary: Hierarchical ZSM-5 catalysts with different pore sizes and the addition of non-acidic SiO2 binders have been prepared for cracking of 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene (TIPB). Increasing pore sizes of ZSM-5 catalysts improves TIPB conversion and stability, with the hierarchical catalyst with a macropore diameter of about 60 nm showing the best performance. Additionally, the addition of SiO2 binders helps limit deactivation and reduce polyaromatic species formation during TIPB cracking.

Diffusion Measurements of Hydrocarbons in Zeolites with Pulse-Field Gradient Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

V. V. Zhivonitko et al.

Summary: The study found that diffusivities of hydrocarbons increased with increasing specific surface area, micro- and mesopore volume of the catalysts. The presence of Bindzil binder with H-β-25 led to decreased hydrocarbon diffusivities. Self-diffusivities were smaller for extrudates compared to powder catalysts.

Summary: The addition of alumina binder to zeolite Beta loaded with Pt catalyst was studied, and it was found that the increase in binder amount led to a decrease in toluene and 124-TMB conversion rates, mainly due to the increase in isomerization and side reactions.
