Characteristics and Genesis of the Es1 Productive Sandstone Reservoir (Paleogene), Nanpu Sag, East China

Kashif Muhammad et al.

Summary: The Shahejie Formation in the Nanpu Sag, Bohai Bay Basin is a crucial rock unit for hydrocarbon exploration, with the Es-1 Sandstone reservoir being classified as fractured, primary intergranular pore-associated, and dissolution reservoir. The study reveals that compaction, fracture filling, and cementation are the primary sources of reservoir densification.

Faiz Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study on the microfacies and diagenetic processes of the Fort Member limestones in Western Rajasthan suggests that they have high reservoir potential, with various microfacies and diagenetic features indicating deposition and diagenesis in different environments, directly affecting porosity and reservoir quality.

Investigating the impact of diagenesis on reservoir quality of the Jurassic shallow shelfal carbonate deposits: Kala Chitta Range, North Pakistan

Bilal Wadood et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of diagenesis on the reservoir potential of Middle Jurassic carbonate succession in North Pakistan. Various diagenetic features such as micritization, neomorphism, dolomitization, and cementation have played a crucial role in modifying the porosity of the rock units. Different types of microscopic porosities generated during various diagenetic phases have revealed the reservoir potential, with mudstone to wackestone showing good potential and grainstone having moderate to poor potential. Large-scale dissolution activities and dense network of fractures may have further enhanced the reservoir potential at the outcrop.

Microfacies and sedimentary environment of the Jahrum formation, south-central Zagros basin

Maryam Sinapour et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the Jahrum formation in the Golkhari oilfield in the north of Bushehr port, determining its age and sedimentary environment through petrography and biostratigraphy studies. The results showed that the formation was deposited in shallow and semi-deep environments during the Eocene age.

Sedimentology and carbonatogenesis of the Upper Campanian limestones in Jebel Berda (south central Tunisia)

Manel Zidi et al.

Summary: The Berda Formation is the inner-shelf stratigraphic equivalent of the outer-shelf Abiod Formation of Tunisia. This study investigates the sedimentological characteristics of Berda Formation limestones to interpret the depositional environment and origin of micrite particles. The analysis reveals five carbonate facies within different depositional environments and the control of eustatic sea-level fluctuation on sedimentary facies variation and carbonate accumulation.

Late Cretaceous pelagic laminites at the northwestern margin of Indian plate, Pakistan: implications for basin bathymetry and ophiolite emplacement

Sajjad Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the microfacies attributes and planktonic foraminiferal biostratigraphy of the late Cretaceous Parh Formation, revealing two planktonic foraminiferal biozones and diverse sea level fluctuations during deposition. The final emplacement of ophiolite on the northwestern margin of the Indian plate is recorded later in Maastrichtian and early Paleocene, influenced by underlying hotspots.

Bilal Wadood et al.

Summary: This study presents the stratigraphic architecture and evolution of a Middle Permian carbonate platform in the Trans-Indus Ranges of central Pakistan. The sequence consists of diverse facies and depositional environments, with insights into the evolution of the platform in three stages. Petrographic and SEM studies indicate the potential for the studied section to be a low to moderate hydrocarbon reservoir with porosity values ranging from 2-8%.

Microfacies analysis, depositional settings and reservoir investigation of Early Eocene Chorgali Formation exposed at Eastern Salt Range, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan

Muhammad Fahad et al.

Summary: The Early Eocene Chorgali Formation in Pakistan consists of light to dark gray limestone with shale intercalations, displaying various microfacies and significant reservoir potential due to porosity-enhancing processes like dissolution and micro-fracturing. Petrophysical analysis found suitable reservoir parameters in certain depths of the Formation, indicating its potential importance for future hydrocarbon exploration.
