Jaber Keyvan Rad et al.

Summary: Photoswitchable nanofibers and nanocomposite fibers with plasmonic nanoparticles were prepared using photochemical and electrospinning techniques. The inclusion of vinylimidazole into the copolymer chains resulted in well-dispersed AuNRs. Photostudies showed a higher reflective intensity for MBVSP@F due to greater chain flexibility. Furthermore, the presence of AuNRs enhanced the photochromic properties of the nanocomposite fibers.

Unraveling the Mechanism for Tuning the Fluorescence of Fluorescein Derivatives: The Role of the Conical Intersection and nπ* State

Panwang Zhou et al.

Summary: The fluorescence tuning mechanisms of fluorescein derivatives involve a dark n pi* state and minimal energy conical intersection (MECI). MECI formation includes significant rotation of the benzene ring and flip-flop motion of the xanthene moiety, which are restricted by intermolecular hydrogen bonding and lower temperature. The energy barrier to reach MECI depends on the substituents in the benzene moiety, as observed in experimental substituent effects.
