Effect of spatial variability of seismic strong motions on long regular and irregular slab-girder RC bridges

Vitor T. Camacho et al.

Summary: Long bridges and other lifeline systems are highly susceptible to spatial variability of earthquake actions. Challenges in engineering applications include generating displacement time-histories with zero initial values and uncertainty in simulating spatial variability of seismic ground motions. This study aims to analyze the impact of spatial variability on seismic behavior of structures, comparing results with and without spatial variability.

Spatiotemporal seismic excitation of bridges with an anti-symmetrical first mode

A. A. Meibodi et al.

Summary: This study utilizes a generalized reduced-order model to evaluate the effects of asynchronous excitation on the lateral response of bridge structures. The analysis shows that in parametric configurations where the first mode is anti-symmetrical, the error between MSE and ISE is often larger.
