Investigation of thermal comfort of room air conditioner during heating season

Zixu Yang et al.

Summary: The main factors affecting thermal comfort of convective terminals during the heating season have been extensively studied in recent years. This investigation aimed to analyze thermal comfort under typical settings and integrated control strategies. The study used a questionnaire, laboratory measurements, and artificial chamber simulations to examine the effects of draft, vertical temperature difference, and control strategies. The results showed that people were more tolerant of draft than vertical temperature differences and that perceived control significantly reduced discomfort. There were no significant differences between different control strategies, except for a long-term shutdown.

Summary: The study reveals discrepancies in thermal comfort between children and adults, with children preferring cooler temperatures and a wider comfort range at 24-27 degrees Celsius indoors. They tend to opt for natural ventilation strategies like opening windows and doors over using fans or changing clothes.
