Summary: This study found that green roofs planted with Atriplex halimus and filled with 20 cm of vermiculite exhibited the best removal efficiencies in greywater treatment, while decreasing substrate depth resulted in lower removal efficiencies. The vegetation on green roofs had a significant impact on nitrogen removal, and recycling a portion of effluent back into the influent improved removal efficiencies significantly.
