Detection of hypermethylation BRCA1/2 gene promoter in breast tumours among Moroccan women

Imane Saif et al.

Summary: The study found that 62% of the samples from Moroccan women with breast cancer had methylated BRCA1, while BRCA2 was negative, with these epigenetic factors being significant in women over 47 years old and at the malignant tumor stage. Age might be an additional factor for breast cancer development, as confirmed by the results.

Loss of BRCA1 expression and morphological features associated with BRCA1 promoter methylation status in triple-negative breast cancer

Arisa Morizono et al.

Summary: The study investigated the possibility of predicting BRCA1 promoter methylation status based on morphological and immunohistochemical features of triple-negative breast cancers. It found that BRCA1 promoter-methylated tumors showed distinct morphological features and lower BRCA1 expression compared to promoter-unmethylated tumors. The study suggests that the morphological characteristics and lower BRCA1 expression of TNBCs can help identify cases suitable for treatment with PARP inhibitors based on BRCA1 promoter methylation status.

The Clinical and Pathological Profile of BRCA1 Gene Methylated Breast Cancer Women: A Meta-Analysis

Ilary Ruscito et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of breast cancer with BRCA1 gene hypermethylation. Results showed a strong correlation between BRCA1 hypermethylation and advanced breast cancer stage, lymph node involvement, and premenopausal status. This suggests the potential for personalized treatment strategies for this subgroup of breast cancer patients.
