Intimate Partner Violence Among Women Accessing HIV-Care Services at Tertiary Hospitals in Ogun State, Nigeria: Implications for Policy and Practice

Olumide Abiodun et al.

Summary: Intimate partner violence is both a predisposing factor for and sequelae of HIV infection. This cross-sectional study among HIV-positive women accessing HIV-care identified that younger age, previous experience of intimate partner violence, having multiple sex partners, partners' age, alcohol intake, and current smoking status were associated with the experience of intimate partner violence within the preceding 12 months. Specific interventions that involve men and address gender power imbalances should be included in routine HIV strategies and services.
