Patient Preferences and Treatment Decisions for Prostate Cancer: Results From A Statewide Urological Quality Improvement Collaborative

Summary: This study examined the relationship between influential factors and treatment decisions among men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer. It found that men's concerns for future bladder, bowel, and sexual function problems may influence their treatment selection, especially for those with lower risk prostate cancer. Men who identified bladder, bowel, and sexual concerns as having a lot of influence on their treatment decision were more likely to choose active surveillance, indicating a potential shift from traditional clinical recommendations.
