Left ventricular mass versus pulse wave velocity as predictors of coronary artery disease in hypertensive patients: data from a 6-year-follow-up study

Ioannis Andrikou et al.

Summary: In treated hypertensive patients, the presence of left ventricular hypertrophy and arterial stiffness indicate cardiovascular risk, with left ventricular hypertrophy being a better predictor of coronary artery disease. Age over 65, male gender, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and left ventricular hypertrophy were identified as independent predictors of CAD.

Sympathetic Neural Mechanisms Underlying Attended and Unattended Blood Pressure Measurement

Guido Grassi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the differences in blood pressure values when measured with or without a doctor present. The results showed that there were significant increases in blood pressure and sympathetic nerve traffic when BP was measured in the presence of a doctor, while there were modest decreases in these values during unattended BP measurement. This suggests that the presence of a doctor during BP measurement may affect cardiovascular and neural responses.

Range and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With Hypertension

Summary: The study found an independent association between time in systolic blood pressure target range and major adverse cardiovascular events among adults with hypertension. Each 1-SD increase in time in target range was significantly associated with a decreased risk of first major adverse cardiovascular event.
