Small-Molecule Fluorogenic Probe for the Detection of Mitochondrial Temperature In Vivo

Fukui Shen et al.

Summary: This study introduces a thermosensitive rhodamine B-derived fluorescent probe that can label mitochondria at low concentrations and exhibits temperature-dependent response in cells and mice. The probe, primarily enriched in the liver with a long half-life, provides a nondestructive method for monitoring mitochondrial temperature changes.

A fluorescent probe for polarity reveals altered polarity in zebrafish development and serum of cancer patients

Yajun Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a near infrared probe AN was designed to analyze cell polarity, showing stability in detecting changes in cell polarity. Results indicated that blood polarity of cancer patients is lower, but increases to almost normal levels after tumor excision. The findings suggest that chemotherapeutic agents can significantly increase the polarity of cancer cells.

Mitochondria-Anchored Molecular Thermometer Quantitatively Monitoring Cellular Inflammations

Zhenlong Huang et al.

Summary: The research team extended the strategy of mitochondria-anchored thermometers from on-off probe Mito-TEM to a ratiometric probe Mito-TEM 2.0. Mito-TEM 2.0 exhibits a sensitive response to temperature through the ratiometric changes of dual emissions, enabling accurate monitoring of local temperature. By applying Mito-TEM 2.0 in cells and zebrafishes, a breakthrough in the quantitative visualization of mitochondrial temperature rises in different inflammation states was achieved.

Cyclopropyl Substituents Transform the Viscosity-Sensitive BODIPY Molecular Rotor into a Temperature Sensor

Aurimas Vysniauskas et al.

Summary: A new cell-permeable fluorescence probe based on BODIPY was developed to respond to environmental temperature changes, with reduced viscosity dependence through functionalization with cyclopropyl substituents. This probe shows potential for applications in fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) due to its temperature-dependent fluorescence decays.
