Effect of static magnetic field on microbial community during anaerobic digestion

Marcin Zielinski et al.

Summary: The study found that the application of magnetizers on digesters to induce static magnetic field (SMF) significantly increased methane production and content in anaerobic digestion of model dairy wastewater. The higher abundance of lactic acid bacteria and acetate production in the reactor exposed to SMF led to enhanced growth of Methanosarcinacaea. Additionally, SMF stimulated the growth of hydrogenotrophic methanogens.
