A Review on the Role of Endogenous Neurotrophins and Schwann Cells in Axonal Regeneration

Samyak Pandey et al.

Summary: Peripheral nerve injuries can be caused by various factors, not just physical trauma. These injuries can lead to a wide range of manifestations and functional impairments, but currently there is no complete recovery option available. Modulating the expression of neurotrophins such as BDNF and PACAP may offer a promising treatment option for nerve injury.

Summary: The study characterized reduced graphene oxide-reinforced polycaprolactone (PCL-rGO) nanofibers using various analytical techniques to analyze their morphology, chemical structure, and optical properties. It was found that lattice strain, elemental composition, and other parameters of the nanocomposites varied with different rGO contents.

Multifunctional core-shell electrospun nanofibrous fabrics of poly(vinyl alcohol)/silk sericin (core) and poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (shell)

Nantaprapa Tuancharoensri et al.

Summary: Core-shell fibres (CSFs) offer a simple route to multifunctional hybrid materials for a wide range of applications. The CSFs in this study were designed with a hydrophilic core and hydrophobic shell, serving as potential carriers for water-soluble bioactive agents and providing protective antibacterial properties. The fibres were shown to be non-toxic to normal human dermal fibroblast cell lines and have the potential for smart delivery fabrics/dressings.

New Frontiers in Peripheral Nerve Regeneration: Concerns and Remedies

Polina Klimovich et al.

Summary: Recent advances in studying molecular and cellular mechanisms of peripheral nerve regeneration have shown the nervous system's ability to repair itself. However, serious injuries pose a challenge, calling for new treatment strategies. Understanding the basic mechanisms of nerve regeneration and the role of exosomes can lead to the development of new clinical strategies for full regeneration in the peripheral nervous system.
