Extracellular laccase-activated humification of phenolic pollutants and its application in plant growth

Shunyao Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the humification process mediated by extracellular lactase for converting 17 beta-estradiol and humic constituents, resulting in the creation of humic-like organic fertilizers and promoting radish growth. The polymerized precipitates generated from humification efficiently mitigated the phytotoxicity of phenolic pollutants and enhanced seed germination and root elongation in radish.

The K428 residue from Thermus thermophilus SG0.5JP17-16 laccase plays the substantial role in substrate binding and oxidation

Yanyun Zhu et al.

Summary: Laccases are multi-copper oxidases that catalyze the oxidation of various compounds. Mutating residue K428 to methionine in the Thermus thermophilus SG0.5JP17-16 laccase resulted in a mutant with enhanced catalytic activity, indicating a strategy to optimize enzyme performance.

Co-immobilized spore laccase/TiO2nanoparticles in the alginate beads enhance dye removal by two-step decolorization

Mojtaba Khakshoor et al.

Summary: The combination of co-entrapped spore laccase and TiO(2) nanoparticles led to efficient degradation of dye with good stability and high decolorization efficiency. Analysis of the half-life of indigo carmine in different remediation systems showed that the laccase/TiO2 combination exhibited the best degradation effect in this study.

A critical review on advances in the practices and perspectives for the treatment of dye industry wastewater

Toral Shindhal et al.

Summary: Rapid industrialization has brought comfort but also environmental harm, particularly from industries like dye industry producing large quantities of hazardous wastewater. There is now a shift towards resource recovery and sustainable management of wastewater. Microbial degradation technology is seen as highly promising for resource recovery and sustainability in treating dye industry wastewater.

Mutations in the coordination spheres of T1 Cu affect Cu2+-activation of the laccase from Thermus thermophilus

Romain Clement et al.

Summary: Mutations in key amino acid residues in the first and second coordination spheres of T1 Cu lead to unexpected influences on enzymatic activity, indicating that the methionine rich domain is not the sole factor in the cuprous oxidase activity of CueO-like enzymes.

The catalytic properties of Thermus thermophilus SG0.5JP17-16 laccase were regulated by the conformational dynamics of pocket loop 6

Yi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the residue D394 in loop 6 controls conformational changes in the laccase, influencing its catalytic efficiency and decolorization efficiency. Additionally, the amino acid interaction network containing the D396 residue at the entrance of the substrate channel plays a crucial role in this conformational dynamics.
