Monosodium Glutamate Induces Changes in Hepatic and Renal Metabolic Profiles and Gut Microbiome of Wistar Rats

Kanokwan Nahok et al.

Summary: The consumption of monosodium glutamate (MSG) was found to impact the metabolism in the liver and kidneys of rats, leading to changes in various metabolites levels. Additionally, alterations in the gut microbiome were observed, potentially mediating the effects on kidney health.

Lactobacillus intestinalis YT2 restores the gut microbiota and improves menopausal symptoms in ovariectomized rats

E. Y. Lim et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that treatment with L. intestinalis YT2 significantly alleviates symptoms of menopause, including increased fat mass, decreased bone density, heightened pain sensitivity, reduced depression-like behavior, and cognitive impairment. Additionally, this probiotic restores intestinal microbial balance by increasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroides ratio and promoting gut barrier integrity. These findings suggest that L. intestinalis YT2 may be a therapeutic probiotic for menopausal women.
